Explore the different types of dental sedation we offer and see how they can improve your experience below.

What Is Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation dentistry uses a combination of medications to help patients feel relaxed during their dental treatments. Dental sedation will ease your anxiety and ensure a pain-free procedure. Sedation is highly beneficial for patients who are sensitive to the sights, sounds, and sensations of undergoing dental work. Dr. Ketron is certified to provide a wide range of sedation dentistry services, helping guarantee your visit is as relaxing as can be.

Our Safe Sedation Options

Nitrous Oxide

Better known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is a low-level sedative that can be used for most dental appointments. Nitrous oxide is inhaled through an oxygen mask and will make you feel very relaxed. It will ease any pain and your appointment will pass by quickly. Nitrous oxide is a safe and effective sedative that will wear off in minutes after your procedure. This sedation option is suitable for both children and adults.

Oral Conscious Sedation

Oral conscious sedation is administered in pill form before your procedure. This type of sedation won’t put you to sleep, but it will put you in a deep state of relaxation. Time will pass by quickly and you won’t remember much from the procedure. The effects of the medication can take a while to wear off, so we recommend having someone you trust to drive you home.

IV Sedation

IV sedation is the most powerful sedation method and is administered through the bloodstream. The medication will take effect immediately and will put you into a “twilight state.” This means that you’ll remain awake and responsive but will be deeply relaxed. While you’re conscious, you’ll have little to no memory of your procedure and it will go by quickly.
